Cookie Policy

This page explains which cookies and similar technologies Bizglocal uses, what they do, and how to switch off the ones that are not essential.

Last updated: October 8, 2026

The short version

  • Necessary cookies keep the Site working and are always on. Everything else is optional and runs only with your choice, where the law requires consent.
  • We use analytics to understand how the Site is used, and, if you allow it, advertising cookies to measure campaigns.
  • You can change your choices at any time through the footer link, your browser, or a Global Privacy Control signal.
  • The cookie list is based on a scan and can change, because providers change their cookies.
Section 1

What cookies are

Cookies are small text files that a website saves on your browser or device. Similar technologies include pixels (tiny images that report that a page or email was opened), local storage, and tags run through a tag manager. In this policy we call them all "cookies".

This policy explains which cookies Bizglocal uses on bizglocal.com and its subdomains (the "Site"), why, and how you can control them. It works together with our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal data more generally.

Section 2

How we use cookies

We sort cookies into four groups. This matches the options in the cookie banner.

Cookie groups
GROUPWHAT IT DOESYOUR CONSENT
NecessaryKeeps the Site secure and working, and remembers your cookie choices. The Site cannot work properly without them. Not required, so they cannot be switched off in the banner
FunctionalRemembers preferences and what you typed in forms, and supports features such as embedded content, feedback tools and content sharing.Required where the law says so
AnalyticalHelps us count visits, see which pages are used, and understand where visitors come from, so we can fix problems and improve the Site.Required where the law says so
AdvertisingMeasures how our own campaigns perform, and may let advertising partners show you relevant ads on other sites.Required where the law says so

Cookies we have not yet classified are treated as non-essential, and are not set until you accept the group they fall into.

Section 3

Cookies on the Site

The table lists the cookies found in our latest scan of the Site. Names and lifetimes are set by the providers and can change without notice, so treat the list as a guide and not a complete or permanent record. Where a cookie only appears after you accept its group, we say so.

Section 4

Other tracking technologies

  • Tag manager. We use Google Tag Manager to load and manage our analytics and marketing tags. The tag manager itself does not set analytics or advertising cookies. The tags it loads may, and they only run if you have allowed their group.
  • Server logs. Our servers record technical data about each request, such as IP address, browser, time and page. We use these for security and troubleshooting.
  • Email. If you receive our emails, they may include links and pixels that show whether you opened a message or clicked a link. You can switch these off by blocking images in your email app, and you can unsubscribe at any time.
  • Local storage. Some features store small amounts of data in your browser, for example to keep part-filled forms. You can clear this in your browser settings.
Section 5

Third-party cookies

Some cookies are set by companies other than Bizglocal, such as analytics and advertising providers. They process data under their own privacy policies, and we do not control them. For example, you can read how Google uses cookies at policies.google.com/technologies/cookies.

The Site links to software vendors and other sites. Those sites set their own cookies, which this policy does not cover, so please check their cookie and privacy notices.

Section 6

Managing your choices

  • Cookie banner. On your first visit you can accept all, reject all, or choose by group. Where the law requires prior consent, non-essential cookies are set only after you accept their group.
  • Change your mind. Use the cookie settings or "Your Privacy Choices" link in the footer at any time to review, change or withdraw your choices.
  • Browser settings. Most browsers let you block or delete cookies. See allaboutcookies.org for guidance. Blocking all cookies, including necessary ones, may stop parts of the Site from working.
  • Opt-out tools. You can opt out of interest-based advertising from participating companies through YourAdChoices (US), the Network Advertising Initiative, or Your Online Choices (Europe). You can block Google Analytics with the Google Analytics opt-out add-on. These tools work per browser and device, and clearing cookies can reset them.

If you decline analytical or advertising cookies, you can still use the Site. You may still see ads elsewhere, but they will be less tailored to you.

Section 7

Browser privacy signals

Where we can detect a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal from your browser, we treat it as a request to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information and of targeted advertising, as the law requires in several US states. We do not currently respond to Do Not Track (DNT) headers, because there is no common standard for them. For more on your rights, see our Privacy Policy.

Section 8

Rules that depend on where you are

  • United States. Most US state laws let you opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information and of targeted advertising. Use the banner, the footer link, or a GPC signal. California and other states also give you further rights, described in our Privacy Policy.
  • EEA, UK and Switzerland. We ask for your consent before setting non-essential cookies, and you can withdraw it as easily as you gave it.
  • India. We rely on your consent for non-essential cookies that process personal data, in line with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
Section 9

Consent records

When you make a choice we record what you chose and when, so we can respect it and show that we did. We will ask you again after 12 months, or sooner if we add new cookie groups or change how we use them. We keep these records only as long as needed, as described in our Privacy Policy.

Section 10

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when our cookies, tools or the law change. The "last updated" date at the top shows the current version. If a change is significant, we will ask for your choices again where the law requires it.
