Core Products & Solutions
Arize AX
The managed AI engineering platform with tracing, evals, monitoring and continual improvement workflows. It comes in Free, Pro and Enterprise tiers and runs as SaaS, with self-hosting on Enterprise.
Arize Phoenix
An open-source, local-first tool for tracing, evaluation, experiments and prompt iteration, built on OpenTelemetry and OpenInference. Arize’s docs say Phoenix is free to self-host with no feature limits, and the repository carries the Elastic License 2.0.
Alyx
An in-app agent that runs evals, debugs issues and helps improve agents. The pricing page caps its issue analysis (“Signal”) at 10 issues a month on Free and 25 on Pro, with unlimited issues on Enterprise.
Evaluations And Experiments
Online and offline evals, datasets, experiments, human annotation, labeling queues and playgrounds, which the pricing page lists as unlimited on all three AX tiers.
OpenInference
An open-source GenAI semantic convention built on OpenTelemetry, which Arize uses to keep instrumentation portable across frameworks and providers.

Who Is Arize AI Best For?
Small Businesses
1-25 EmployeesTeams can start free and move to $50 a month with unlimited users, which suits a handful of engineers tracing one agent, but 50,000 spans a month fills quickly in a busy production app.
Mid-Market Companies
26-100 EmployeesTeams with several agents will likely outgrow Pro’s volume and retention and need a custom Enterprise quote, or can self-host Phoenix and run it themselves.
Enterprise Companies
100+ EmployeesLarge organizations get custom volume, self-hosting, SSO, audit logs and dedicated support, and Arize’s customer pages name Booking.com, Tripadvisor, PagerDuty and Wayfair.
Teams That Prefer Open Source
Any SizeEngineering teams that want to keep data on their own infrastructure can self-host Phoenix, including air-gapped, at no license cost, subject to the Elastic License 2.0 terms.

Arize AI’s Pros & Cons
Balanced evaluation to help you make an informed decision
Strengths
- Published $0 Free and $50 per month Pro prices
- Unlimited users on all three AX tiers
- Unlimited evals, experiments, datasets, prompts and annotations on every tier
- Phoenix is free to self-host, including air-gapped, with no listed feature limits
- Built on OpenTelemetry and OpenInference, with 40+ integrations listed
- SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, PCI DSS, GDPR and HIPAA listed, with US, EU and Canada regions
- G2 rating of 4.3 and named enterprise customers
Limitations
- Pro covers only 50,000 spans, 10 GB and 30 days of retention
- No overage rates published for AX
- Phoenix uses the Elastic License 2.0, which bars offering it as a hosted service, so it is not an OSI open source license
- Custom dashboards, metrics and monitors are not listed on Free or Pro
- G2 reviewers cite a learning curve, noisy alerts and setup effort
- Headquarters, headcount and tier-level compliance mapping are not stated on its site
Our Verdict
Arize earns its Best in Pricing placement on a narrow but real comparison. It publishes $0 Free and $50 per month Pro with unlimited users, while LangSmith’s Plus plan is $39 per seat per month, so a five-person team pays $195 against Arize’s $50. W&B Pro starts at $60 per month for up to 10 model seats and is meant for organizations under 50 employees. Arize also offers a free self-hosted Phoenix, and LangSmith’s self-hosting is listed as an enterprise option. The case is qualified. Units differ: Arize meters spans, LangSmith traces and W&B Weave ingestion in GB, so the figures are not like for like, and LangSmith’s Plus includes 10,000 base traces with 14-day retention against Arize Pro’s 50,000 spans and 30 days. W&B publishes overage rates ($0.03 per GB of storage, $0.10 per MB of Weave ingestion on Pro) and Arize does not. Phoenix is source-available under ELv2. Price your own span volume on each vendor before choosing.

What to Know
What to Know Before Buying
-
Instrumentation uses OpenTelemetry and OpenInference
-
Enterprise self-hosting and SSO need a sales conversation
-
Arize lists 40+ models, frameworks and tools, and G2 reviewers cite OpenTelemetry and LangChain. Check that your framework, provider and language are covered before committing.
-
Pro caps at 50,000 spans and 10 GB a month, so growth means moving to a custom Enterprise quote. Enterprise adds multiple orgs, spaces and custom retention.
-
The pricing page lists no overage rates or add-ons. A self-hosted Phoenix has no license fee, but your team pays for hosting, storage and upkeep.
-
Because Arize builds on OpenTelemetry and OpenInference, traces are portable in principle. Arize does not document a migration path from LangSmith or W&B on the pages reviewed.
-
Free needs no credit card and Pro is a published monthly price. Enterprise terms, SLAs and startup pricing are custom, and the Elastic License 2.0 governs Phoenix use.
